Following the World Health Organization, breastfeeding is the optimal source of nourishment for infants. In order to meet new-borns nutritional requirements, breastfed is recommended until the baby is six months and should continue for up to two years with complementary food. It is also a way to guarantee food security and to reduce the impact of social precarity.
Each year, the World Breastfeeding Week 2018 fosters Organizations, associations and healthcare professionals around the world to encourage breastfeeding.
This year, BINC Geneva will participate to this key event “Breastfeeding: the basis of life”, taking place from 10 to 14 September 2018, in Switzerland. Information booths, conferences and a symposium, including topics such as breastfeeding with regards to mother and child microbiota, oxytocin and parentally issues will be organised by Geneva Hospital and the University of medecine, on 13 September 2018.
