Microbiota

Gut microbiota plays a role in different functions in the body barrier effect, immune functions and many other areas that remain to be explored.

Brain Development

He advances in research in infant neurodevelopment highlight the crucial nature of experience in shaping the brain, the role of nutrition for health development and the importance of stimulating learning.

Nutrition And Feeding

Adequate nutrition during infancy and early childhood is essential not only to ensure that the child’s nutritional needs are met and for health growth and development but also to prevent the health consequences related to child obesity.

Allergies

Children with infantile eczema may develop typical symptoms of Atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, and asthma later in life. Several studies have shown that nutrition as well as development of microbiota colonization in early infancy might affect development of allergies.

Maternal Health

Maternal mental health problems are considered as a major public health challenge and are often overlooked. Worldwide about 10% of pregnant women and 13% of women who have just given birth experience a mental disorder.

BINC-Geneva was founded in 2017 to foster international research and collaboration in Europe focusing on 5 research areas of expertise.

As a hub for scientific cooperation BINC Geneva funds research and fosters collaborations and exchanges to increase our understanding and promote innovation in the field of infant and maternal health solutions.

The Institute is strategically located in Geneva, at the Campus Biotech’s Innovation Park, joining a cluster of biotechnology and life science organizations committed to an interdisciplinary approach engaging with a hub for innovation and collaboration.

Through an interdisciplinary scientific approach, Biostime Institute for Nutrition and Care aims to stimulate innovation, collaboration and technology translation in life sciences.
