According to the “Convention on the Rights of the Child”, every infant and child have the right to good nutrition.

At the same time the prevalence of overweight and obesity among children and adolescents has risen dramatically over the past few years reaching more than 124 million of children and adolescents (6% of girls and 8% of boys) in 2016.
Breastfeeding plays a key role in early infant’s nutrition. Therefore, following World health organization, exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months has many benefits for the infant and mother. Children who were breastfed as babies are less likely to be overweight or obese.
More globally, adequate nutrition during infancy and early childhood is essential not only to ensure that the child’s nutritional needs are met and for health growth and development but also to prevent the health consequences related to child obesity.
